Taylor Swift’s ‘Tortured Poets Department’ debuts at No. 1 with record-breaking first-week sales

Taylor Swift’s “The Tortured Poets Department” Album Dominates Charts and Breaks Records

Taylor Swift’s latest album “The Tortured Poets Department” has taken the music industry by storm, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with a record-breaking 2.61 million equivalent album units sold in the U.S. in its first week. This marks Swift’s 14th album to claim the top spot, tying her with Jay-Z for the second-most No. 1 albums by a recording artist, just behind The Beatles’ 19 top albums.

In addition to its chart-topping performance, “Tortured Poets” also set a new record for Swift with the biggest first-week sales of any of her albums to date. The album’s success extended to vinyl sales, with 859,000 copies sold, making it the largest sales week for a vinyl album in the modern era.

Swift’s dominance continued on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, where she claimed the top 14 spots with her lead single “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone at No. 1. This achievement puts her in rare company, with only Drake having more songs simultaneously in the top 20 of the Hot 100 chart.

Furthermore, “Tortured Poets” made history on music streaming platforms, breaking all-time records on Apple Music, Spotify, and Amazon Music since its release. The album became the first to surpass 300 million streams in a single day and reached one billion streams in a single week on Spotify, solidifying Swift’s status as a streaming powerhouse.

With her latest album’s overwhelming success, Taylor Swift continues to cement her legacy as one of the most influential and accomplished artists in the music industry.
