Taylor Swift’s “The Tortured Poets Department” Dominates Charts and Breaks Records

Taylor Swift’s latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” has taken the music world by storm, breaking records and dominating the charts. The 31-track double album has soared to the top of the Billboard 200 chart, tying Swift with Jay-Z for the second-most No. 1 albums at 14. Only The Beatles have had more with 19 No. 1 albums.

The album has amassed a staggering 2.61 million equivalent album units in the U.S., with 1.91 million of those units coming from traditional album sales. Vinyl sales have also seen a resurgence, with 859,000 units sold, marking the highest number of vinyl sales in modern history.

Not only is “The Tortured Poets Department” the top-selling album of 2024, but it has also broken records for streaming. The album hit 891.34 million album streams in the U.S., making it the biggest streaming week for an album in history. Swift surpassed previous records set by Drake and even her own previous album, “Midnights.”

Swift took to social media to express her gratitude, stating, “My mind is blown. I’m completely floored by the love you’ve shown this album.” She thanked her fans for listening, streaming, and welcoming “Tortured Poets” into their lives.

In addition to her streaming success, Spotify announced that “The Tortured Poets Department” became the platform’s most streamed album in a single week, with over 1 billion streams globally. Swift also broke records at Apple and Amazon Music.

To top it all off, Swift made history once again by claiming the top 14 spots on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with tracks from the album. Her lead single, “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone, secured the No. 1 spot, followed by other tracks from the album.
