Taylor Swift Surprises Fans with Announcement of New Album at Grammy Awards

At the Grammy Awards on Sunday night, Taylor Swift took home the award for best pop vocal album and used the opportunity to make a major announcement. Swift revealed that her brand new album, titled “The Tortured Poets Department,” is set to be released on April 19th.

“This is my 13th Grammy – which is my lucky number, I don’t know if I’ve ever told you that,” Swift joked during her acceptance speech. “I want to say thank you to the members of the Recording Academy for voting this way. I know the way the Recording Academy voted is a direct reflection of the passion of the fans. So I want to say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I’ve been keeping from you for the last two years, which is that my brand new album comes out April 19. It’s called The Tortured Poets Department. I’m gonna go and post the cover right now backstage. Thank you, I love you.”

Following her announcement, Swift shared the cover art for the album, featuring a black and white photo of her lying down in a bed with the caption “All’s fair in love and poetry.” The album pre-order is already live on her website.
