Taylor Swift surprises fans with new songs during return of Eras Tour in Brazil

Taylor Swift Wraps Up Rio Tour Stop with Surprise Songs

Taylor Swift wrapped up her Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, tour stop with two surprise songs, delighting fans in attendance. The pop superstar performed “ME!” from her album “Lover” on the guitar and “So It Goes…” from “Reputation” on the piano on Monday night.

The night before, Swift performed in the rain, with fans speculating that one of the special songs was dedicated to Ana Clara Benevides Machado, a fan who tragically passed away. For the second night of her shows at the Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos, Swift played “Dancing With Our Hands Tied” on the guitar and “Bigger Than the Whole Sky” on the piano.

Fans who were streaming the show live believed that Swift chose the piano song as a tribute to Benevides, with many commenting “For Ana” on a TikTok livestream. Others speculated that the song may also be a tribute to other fans who have passed away, including Gabriel Milhomem Santos and Ally Garner Anderson.

Swift explained to the audience that she likes to play songs that she has never performed live before or have never played live on the Eras Tour. She expressed her love for the song she was about to play, mentioning that she hadn’t performed it since the “Reputation” tour.

The emotional performance and tributes to fans added a poignant touch to Swift’s already captivating show in Rio. Fans were moved by the heartfelt gestures and the special connection between Swift and her dedicated fan base.
