Taylor Swift sets new record with most Album of the Year wins at the 2024 Grammy Awards

Highlights from the 66th Annual Grammy Awards

The 66th annual Grammy Awards, held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, was a night to remember for young women in the music industry. The Recording Academy, under scrutiny for not adequately recognizing women, made a conscious effort to highlight female representation at the event.

Taylor Swift stole the show by winning Album of the Year for “Midnights,” making her the first artist to win the Grammys’ top prize four times. In her acceptance speech, she announced her new album, “Tortured Poets Department,” set to release on April 19. Miley Cyrus also had a big night, winning Record of the Year for her song “Flowers.”

Other notable winners included Victoria Monét for Best New Artist, Billie Eilish for Song of the Year, and Karol G for Best Música Urbana Album. The event featured stunning performances from artists like Olivia Rodrigo, Joni Mitchell, Travis Scott, and Burna Boy.

The night also paid tribute to musical legends lost in the past year, with emotional performances by Stevie Wonder and Annie Lennox. Jay-Z received the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award and called for better recognition of hip-hop artists in the industry.

However, the event took a surprising turn when Killer Mike, who won three awards, was detained by police following an altercation inside the arena. Despite the unexpected incident, the Grammy Awards continued to celebrate the best in music and honor the talented artists who graced the stage that night.
