Taylor Swift Releases “The Tortured Poets Department” Album and Surprise Deluxe Edition
Taylor Swift Surprises Fans with Double Album Release: “The Tortured Poets Department” and Deluxe Edition “The Anthology”
In a move that left fans reeling with excitement, Taylor Swift dropped not one, but two versions of her highly anticipated album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” in the early hours of Friday morning.
The standard edition of the album, featuring 16 songs, was released at midnight ET as promised. However, just two hours later, Swift surprised everyone with the release of a deluxe edition titled “The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology,” which boasts a whopping 31 songs.
Among the additional tracks included in the deluxe edition are four songs that were previously teased as vinyl-exclusive bonus tracks: “The Black Dog,” “The Albatross,” “The Bolter,” and “The Manuscript.” The remaining 11 songs were kept hidden from fans until the surprise release.
This isn’t the first time Swift has pulled off a surprise album drop. In 2022, she released an extended version of her album “Midnights” in the early hours of the morning, much to the delight of her fans.
Rumors of a double album release had been circulating earlier in the week, fueled by cryptic clues and hints from Swift herself. The superstar’s website was updated with a countdown to 2 a.m. ET, confirming that something big was on the way.
Fans were left in shock by the near-doubled length of “The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology,” but were thrilled to have even more new music from the talented singer-songwriter.
Both versions of the album feature songs written by Swift and co-produced with either Jack Antonoff or Aaron Dessner, with the exception of “I Look in People’s Windows,” which was co-produced with Patrik Berger.
As a newly minted billionaire, Swift has been making waves in the music industry with her ongoing Eras Tour and concert movie. Her economic power was on full display when Singapore paid nearly $3 million per show to secure exclusivity to the Southeast Asian leg of her tour.
Fans can now stream both versions of “The Tortured Poets Department” on all major platforms and immerse themselves in the musical world of Taylor Swift.
