Taylor Swift breaks records with her latest album ‘The Tortured Poets Department’

Taylor Swift’s “The Tortured Poets Department” Album Breaks Records and Dominates Charts

Taylor Swift’s latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” has taken the music world by storm, breaking records and solidifying her status as a chart-topping powerhouse. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, marking Swift’s 14th album to reach the top spot and tying her with Jay-Z for the most No. 1 albums by a solo artist. Only the Beatles have more No. 1 albums, with 19 in total.

With the equivalent of 2.61 million album sales in the United States for the week ending on April 25, “The Tortured Poets Department” has become the top-selling album of 2024. The album’s success is not limited to traditional album sales, as it also dominated streaming platforms. Swift’s album earned more than 891 million official streams, making it Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single week and the first in the platform’s history to reach 1 billion streams in a week.

In addition to its streaming success, “The Tortured Poets Department” also saw impressive sales in physical media, particularly in vinyl. The album sold 859,000 vinyl copies, breaking records for the largest vinyl sales of any album in the modern era. The album’s rollout included 19 variations, giving fans plenty of options to choose from during the preorder phase and after the release.

Despite facing mixed reviews, with some critics calling it “miserable and bottomless,” Swift’s latest album has resonated with fans who appreciate her raw and vulnerable storytelling. As Swift gears up to revive her Eras Tour, starting on May 9 in Paris, fans can expect more chart-topping hits and record-breaking success from the music icon.
