Grammy Awards 2024: Taylor Swift Wins Album of the Year

Taylor Swift made history at the Grammy Awards by winning album of the year for “Midnights,” breaking the record for most wins in the category with four. In her acceptance speech, she thanked her producer and friend Jack Antonoff and shared her happiness for creating music and playing shows. Swift also used her 13th Grammy win to announce her new album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” set to arrive on April 19.

Other notable winners of the night included Miley Cyrus, who won record of the year for “Flowers,” Victoria Monét for best new artist, and Billie Eilish for song of the year with “What Was I Made For?” Performances by Olivia Rodrigo, Joni Mitchell, Travis Scott, and Burna Boy also captivated the audience.

The show, hosted by Trevor Noah, featured memorable moments like Karol G becoming the first female performer to win best música urbana album and a touching In Memoriam segment honoring musical legends. Dua Lipa opened the show with a high-energy medley, while Luke Combs delivered a heartfelt rendition of “Fast Car” with Tracy Chapman.

In addition to the main awards, several pre-broadcast winners were announced, including Jack Antonoff for producer of the year and Kylie Minogue for best pop dance recording. Killer Mike made headlines by winning three awards but ended up in police custody before the main ceremony began.

The night concluded with a performance by Billy Joel and a surprise appearance by Celine Dion, who handed Taylor Swift her record-breaking trophy. Dion expressed her gratitude for being able to attend the event after revealing her battle with stiff person syndrome in 2022.
