Liverpool, known as one of the most musical cities in the world, is gearing up to welcome pop superstar Taylor Swift as she brings her Eras Tour to the UK for the first time. The city is set to transform into a Taylor Swift themed wonderland, dubbed ‘Taylor Town’, in honor of the singer’s upcoming three sold-out stadium shows at Anfield between June 13 and 15.

More than 150,000 fans, known as swifties, are expected to descend on Liverpool from far and wide to experience the unique celebration of the pop icon. The city will be adorned with art installations inspired by Taylor Swift’s most iconic musical moments, creating a special city experience for fans traveling from across the world.

The Taylor Town Trail will feature eleven art installations, each inspired by a different Taylor Swift Era, from Lover to Reputation. Locations such as Liverpool ONE, Royal Albert Dock Liverpool, and the Metquarter will host new works reflecting the style and stories of each album. Additionally, a series of ticketed craft workshops will take place, allowing fans to get creative with origami, t-shirt transformations, upcycling denim, collages, and cupcake decorating – all inspired by the singer.

Liverpool City Council’s Culture Liverpool team has partnered with creative social enterprise Make CIC and local artists to curate the installations, ensuring a vibrant and engaging experience for all visitors. The event will also include academic symposiums, critical karaoke sessions, and interactive talks on Taylor Swift’s cultural impact.

Businesses and organizations across the city are joining in on the Taylor Swift action, with the University of Liverpool hosting a free ‘Tay Day’. The city is expected to see a significant economic boost from the influx of fans attending the concerts, with researchers estimating an average spend of £848 per Swiftie, contributing to a nearly £1 billion boost to the British economy.

Liverpool City Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Health, and Wellbeing, Councillor Harry Doyle, expressed excitement for the city’s enthusiastic welcome for Taylor Swift and her fans, highlighting Liverpool’s reputation as a hub of creativity and innovation. The collaboration between local artists and the city’s cultural scene aims to unite Taylor Swift fans, locals, and visitors in a celebration of art and music.
