Grammys: Taylor Swift Commends Fordham Graduate Lana Del Rey

Lana Del Rey Makes Waves at the Grammy Awards: A Recap of Her Night

Lana Del Rey, Fordham University alumna, may not have taken home any awards at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night, but she certainly made her mark. Nominated for five awards, including Album of the Year for her 2023 release, “Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd,” Del Rey ultimately lost out to Taylor Swift’s “Midnights,” on which she was a guest vocalist and co-writer.

Swift, who won the Album of the Year award, brought Del Rey on stage with her and praised her as a “legacy artist” and a “legend.” This show of support from a fellow artist is reminiscent of the early days of Del Rey’s career, as she mentioned in an interview and performance at Fordham’s WFUV in 2011.

Despite not winning any awards, Del Rey’s impact as an artist continues to grow. She is set to headline Coachella in April and has teased the release of her next album, “Lasso,” in September. With peers like Taylor Swift by her side, Del Rey’s future in the music industry looks bright.
