Taylor Swift Drops Surprise Double Album: “The Tortured Poets Department”
Taylor Swift surprised fans with a double album release of “The Tortured Poets Department.” After dropping the first 16 tracks, she added 15 more songs to the collection two hours later. Swift shared the news on Instagram, stating, “I’d written so much tortured poetry in the past 2 years and wanted to share it all with you, so here’s the second installment of TTPD: The Anthology. 15 extra songs. And now the story isn’t mine anymore… it’s all yours.”
The tracklist for the second half of the album includes songs like “The Black Dog,” “The Albatross,” and “I Hate It Here.” Swift first hinted at the double album during her acceptance speech at the Grammy Awards in February, where she won album of the year for “Midnights.”
Known for her prolific output, Swift has released nine albums in the last five years, including re-recordings and studio albums. The first single from the new album, “Fortnight,” will have a music video released on Friday at 8 p.m.
Fans are already speculating about the meaning behind the lyrics, with some suggesting that the track “So Long, London” is about her former boyfriend, British actor Joe Alwyn. Swift’s signature themes of strength in the face of heartbreak and personal growth are prevalent throughout the album.
As always, Swift keeps fans guessing about the inspiration behind her songs, leaving room for speculation and interpretation. The surprise double album release has certainly delighted fans and added to the excitement surrounding Swift’s latest musical endeavor.
